Žijem vo Zvolene, v srdci Slovenska a tu aj pracujem na Vysokoškolskom lesníckom podniku, pod Technickou univerzitou Zvolen. Popri práci vykonávam strážcu prírody pre Štátnu ochranu prírody SR, vo voľných chvíľach na chalupe obrábam pôdu v duchu permakultúry, čítam všetko možné, idem si zabúchať na strelnicu a potom opäť do prírody. Takže môj pohľad na ekológiu je skutočne z rôznych uhlov a preto ma aj Lucka oslovila do tímu WB, aby som pomáhal spoluvytvárať program v témach život v prírode, genius loci a skautská prax. Týmto témam som sa doteraz venoval na rôznych skautských stupňoch vzdelávania ( RK, LRŠ, VLŠ ). Za pozvanie som jej veľmi vďačný, lebo je to skvelá príležitosť rásť, spoznávať ľudí a vzdelávanie v iných krajinách a samozrejme preto, že sa s Luckou sa už nejaký ten piatok poznáme.
Niečo o mne:
Do skautského zboru v Detve som som prišla ešte ako včielka. Odvtedy uplynulo veľa rokov, počas ktorých mi učarovalo vychovávanie a vzdelávanie natoľko, že som sa tomu rozhodla venovať aj v profesijnom živote. Chvíľu som bola vodkyňou SSO a po Gilš 2016 aj oblastnou inštruktorkou. Už niekoľko rokov bývam v Bratislave, kde som našla oddiel vĺčat, v ktorom som sa chcela realizovať a stal sa mojím domovom.
Prečo WBS?
Byť súčasťou nového vzdelávania budúcich inštruktorov a inštruktoriek v SLSK vnímam ako príležitosť vytvoriť inovatívne a moderné vzdelávanie v 21.storočí pre tých a tie, ktorí chcú pohýňať skauting v hesle vĺčat.
I joined scouting in 2007, and over time, it slowly became an essential part of my life. In recent years, I’ve primarily held leadership and training roles with the Lithuanian Scouting Council and the Training Department, supporting the training of other leaders. These experiences taught me how important it is to learn together. I want to help organize Woodbadge training to support other scout leaders in their growth. My experience in international training has shown me how valuable this kind of learning can be, and I’d like to help create the same opportunity for others.
Hi there! Im Meghan from the states. Ive lived all over the US but now reside in Colorado, at the base of the Rocky Mountains. I currently work in Solar, have always worked in the energy industry and am a Chemical Engineer. Regarding my Scouting journey, I most recently served from 2022 to 2025 as 2nd Vice Chair of the Interamerican Scout Committee, guiding the direction of Scouting across our 36 NSOs in the Americas. I also previously was on the planning team for the Moot in Portugal in 2025 and the World Scout Jamboree in 2019. I am a Scouts Go Solar Ambassador. These opportunities have allowed me to travel all of the world learning how Scouting manifests in different countries. Domestically, I have been a backpacking guide at our national high adventure base, Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico (you should go – its amazing!).
I am thrilled to be joining the planning team for the Slovakian International Wood Badge! I first was introduced to Slovakian Scouting by Lucia during our own International Wood Badge at KISC for its Centennial. That training was such a wonderful learning experience for me and I made many good friends, several of which are also joining this planning team! I am looking forward to giving back and sharing my insights to make this incredible dream a reality.
Maeed brings to WBS a combination of environmental advocacy, resilience-focused work and many years of experience in youth development within the Scout Movement. And an amazing vibe of someone “from the sunny part of the world”, as he likes to describe his home country.
His work is especially connected to themes such as environmental justice, disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation and resilient communities. With a background in Environment and Earth Science, he has worked on sustainability, community resilience and emergency management initiatives in the Maldives through roles connected to UNICEF Maldives, the National Disaster Management Authority and the Maldivian Red Crescent. He’s been serving as Advocacy Director at Ecocare Maldives, where he focuses on environmental citizenship, resilience and community engagement.
Scouting and youth work have long been an important part of Maeed’s life and leadership journey. He served as Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association of Maldives and has been supporting the Scout Movement on national, regional and global levels for many years. In 2024, he received the Asia Pacific Regional Chairman’s Award in recognition of his contribution to scouting, youth development and leadership within the global scouting community.
Maeed has also served as Youth Advisor to the World Scout Committee and contributed internationally through the Youth Engagement and Educational Methods Unit within the Innovating Scouting Work Stream Core Team. He served as a consultant for WOSM in the areas of Youth Programme and youth engagement services. Alongside international work, he has also been actively involved in modernising and developing scouting programmes in the Maldives and supporting young people in becoming active, resilient and compassionate leaders.
Čaute, ja som Čorky a moja skautská cesta začala už nejaký ten piatok dozadu. Odvtedy sa ňou predieram hlava, nehlava, ale stále ma to baví.
Skauting si ma chytil najprv tým, že skauti chodia veľa do prírody. Teraz ho milujem, pre skautov, ktorí nielen chodia do prírody. A Wood Badge Slovakia je presne jedno z tých miest. Ľudia, ktorí sú na jednej vlne aj keď sú z úplne iných miest. Každý robí skauting inak, v inom štáte, ale s rovnakou myšlienkou. A ja to proste milujem. Baví ma zdieľanie skúseností a rozširovanie obzorov, ako niektoré veci môžu fungovať inak. Baví ma robiť skauting pre všetkých.
Nebeský Portviš (PVS) – bývalý člen druhého zboru Dlhých mačiek Trnava, bývalý člen týmu lesnej školy Baobab, bývalý člen zážitkového kurzu FONS Slovensko, aktuálne pomocník tímu vodcovskej lesnej školy Planéta, autor skautského trička UNICEF a dvoch iných zborových tričiek, bývalý prispievateľ do časopisu Médium, vášnivý čitateľ a záhradník.
Čo ma priviedlo k WBS? Viete ako je to v rozprávkach proste Na Lukyno prianie a jej prikázanie, počúvam a poslúcham. Takže ak potrebujete niekoho do týmu čo dokopy nič nevie, ale kľudne bude v kuchyni, alebo bude vymýšlať hovadiny tak sa so mnou skamarátte a dajte mi príkaz. A ja splním vaše prianie (možno).
Florina has been a scout since 2008, not knowing at that moment exactly how this would change her life. After the first camp and the challenge of accepting to become a leader, she was hooked. Once a scout, always a scout.
18 years later, she is proud that she is still part of the movement. From being a venture, a leader for ventures, to becoming a trainer, a group leader and now the International Commissioner for Romanian Scouts. Scouting helped her develop competences, grow as a person and learn how to lead.
Volunteering as a trainer in Romania meant also that she was one of the core team trainers involved in creating the Woodbadge training in Romania between 2016 and 2020, developing its structure, competences, design and facilitation of the actual training for leaders and the training of trainers.
Being part of this amazing international team is an experience out of the comfort zone, and she is happy she had the opportunity to say yes to the invitation to contribute to this project.
Mám rada ľudí. A divadlo, psíkov, knihy, sneh, Vianoce a kaviarne. A skauting. Západy slnka v meste a východy v prírode. Objavovanie nových miest a potulky po tých, ktoré už poznám – len tak, pomaly, kade sa mi zachce a kde presvitá miestna atmosféra. Čaj s mliekom a kávu so zmrzlinou. Milujem pozerať sa na veci z rôznych perspektív, mám rada pestrosť, fascinuje ma všetko možné; cez malé každodenné drobnosti až po najrôznejšie idey. Tie, spolu so stratégiami a kreatívou aj rada tvorím. Pracovne sa venujem PR a fundraisingu, veľa pre neziskový sektor a aj pre biznis klientov. Z nejakého dôvodu si ešte od čias strednej školy pamätám Kantov imperatív. Asi najmä preto, že sa mi páči.
V skautingu som od svojich 16 rokov a stále ma baví a verím v jeho myšlienky.
Myšlienka toho, že som súčasťou tak obrovského, pestrého a pozitívneho globálneho hnutia je pre mňa nesmierne silná. Som hrdou členkou Slovenského skautingu i českého Junáka. Mojím domovským zborom je 47. zbor skautov Bratislava – Petržalka, známy aj pod názvom Rota Ferda Mravca. Prešla som si dobrovoľníčením na všemožných úrovniach – mala som tú česť radcovať úžasnej družinke Zlatých retrievrov (meno naozaj nesúvisí s mojou láskou ku psom, hoci by sa to mohlo zdať), viesť oddiel a byť súčasťou zborovej rady, byť na táboroch kuchárkou, zdravotníčkou aj riešiť program. Pôsobila som v rôznych vzdelávacích tímoch – VLŠ Baobab, Radcovsko-rangerská akadémia aj český ČLK Hrádek (naša líderka). Spoluorganizovala som CEJ 2014, užila si dobrovoľníčenie ako IST na litovskom národnom jamboree a veľmi rada spomínam aj na obdobie, kedy som ako „sestra sekretárka“ pracovala na Ústredí SLSK. Aktuálne prebieha moje druhé funkčné obdobie v náčelníctve. V rámci toho prvého sme s Ďurim Blichárom založili Sympózium a vďaka tímu Baobab odštartovali tento projekt, ktorý trvá doteraz. Medzi moje srdcové témy patrí bezpečný a prijímajúci skauting – Safe from Harm i inklúzia.
V roku 2023 absolvovala globálny Centenary Wood Badge training v švajčiarskom Kanderstegu, ktorý organizoval WOSM pri príležitosti 100. rokov KISC. Táto skúsenosť s globálnym skautingom a vzdelávaním bola neskutočná a čaro svetového rozmeru nášho hnutia ma úplne dostalo. Sila toho, že spolu fungujú najrôznejší ľudia z rôznych kultúr, náboženstiev, ale aj najrôznejších životných príbehov a to, ako sa môžeme navzájom inšpirovať, podporiť, posunúť seba i skauting v našich krajinách, alebo jednoducho byť kamarátmi či priateľmi, je mimoriadna.
V roku 2025 som absolvovala medzinárodný Wood Badge v Slovinsku, pretože prečo nemať dva, že áno. Slovinský prístup ma úplne dostal a ich zážitkové „pozvanie“ do vzdelávania s možnosťou spoznať ich úžasný tím a ich pohľady na svet bol jeden z najlepších a najobohacujúcejších skautských zážitkov v mojom živote.
Vízia priniesť trošku z tohto globálneho čara a skvelých ľudí z celého sveta na Slovensko sa napĺňa cez ideu medzinárodnej inštruktorskej lesnej školy Wood Badge Slovakia. Pripravenej pre naše potreby, s inšpiráciami zo zahraničia a atmosférou objavovania, pozitivity a osobného rastu. Ďakujem úžasným avengerom z tímu, že do toho išli a teším sa, že to zažijete možno práve vy, čo teraz čítate tento text.
Hassan has spent many years moving between scouting, non-formal education, sustainability projects and international cooperation – usually somewhere between educational programmes, strategy meetings, volunteers, logistics spreadsheets and long conversations about how to make learning more meaningful for young people.
He has worked with WOSM, WAGGGS, KISC and UNDP on projects connected to youth engagement, sustainable development, advocacy, educational methods and international events. Across different roles, he has coordinated global initiatives, supported educational programmes and partnerships, worked on strategy and communication, and collaborated with volunteers and professionals from many different cultures and backgrounds.
Between 2021 and 2024, Hassan served as a member of the World Scout Committee, where he co-led the Sustainability Task Force developing the Climate Impact Strategy for 2033 and worked on topics connected to environmental sustainability, peace and security. Before that, he was also part of several WOSM educational and SDG-focused initiatives, including the Scouts for SDGs project and support for national scout organizations around educational programmes and youth engagement.
At KISC – the International Scout Centre in Switzerland – he spent over two years helping lead projects connected to the centre’s 100-year anniversary, coordinating operations, educational programmes and international teams. He led the Centenary Wood Badge training that was organized by WOSM.
Part of his work also included building partnerships with organisations such as WHO, UNEP and OHCHR and creating learning experiences focused on sustainability and global challenges.
My parents wanted their son to play in nature, learn how to use a knife, build a fire, and maybe be a little mischievous—just like they were at that age. They wanted a scout. Throughout primary school, I was exactly that.
In high school, they started to worry. I was staying up late, preparing hikes and camps, and attending troop meetings with my friends. When I got to university and began taking a three-hour train ride every weekend to lead those very same troop meetings, they gave up and realized they had gotten more than they bargained for. They got a scout. I became interested in planning and facilitating activities and quickly moved to the educational side of our scouting community. I became a leader at the Slovenian Scout Academy and a mentor on our Wood Badge course. So when, a couple of years later, I was asked whether I wanted to help develop a completely new course in Slovakia with an international team, it felt like the obvious thing to do.
I’m very excited about this project. I believe it will be a unique learning experience for everyone who participates. Let’s see where scouting takes us next.
Fido started his scouting path than 25 years ago when he joined the scout troop from Pilsen, Czechia called Vločka (Snowflake). There, he tried various roles from patrol leader to the leader of the troop. After that he served as a vice leader of the local scout group till he moved to Prague to follow his passion: Artificial Intelligence. In Prague, he joined the program committee. Fido has also participated in scout education. He has been a member of the team for the troop leader course PRAK, and two junior leader courses: ČK Tokaheya and ČLK Hrádek. This year, he is excited by the opportunity to be part of the next level of the scout education: the Woodbadge.
Reasons to join the team:
I think that running an international Woodbadge course, first one in both Czechia and Slovakia, is a very valuable endeavor. However it may be challenging, I believe that will lead both the participants and the team to the personal growth incomparable to any national course. And from the group calls, I already know that I’m joining a team full of talented young instructors, I’m looking forward to work with you!
